March in Washington, DC‏

Dearest Ones,

What an inspiration to see over 150,000 people marching for Life in Washington, January 22, the anniversary of the Roe vs Wade decision, which made abortion legal 36 years ago. People from all denominations and all faiths participated. What struck me as most significant was the number of young people, both college and high school, who are so passionate and showed such courage in defending the rights of the unborn. How encouraging to know that 50% of the marchers were young people. The young are the future lawmakers and voters. The entire student body from Christendom College, 700 students from Steubenville and a large number of law students from Ave Maria College were present. Law students will have a particularly important part to play in the future leadership of our nation. The young people participated in an all night prayer vigil in the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. I was impressed with the number of senators and representatives from Congress, who took the time to attend the March and address the marchers. Regardless of a new administration, which signed into law on the very day of the March, January 22, a bill to use US tax dollars, not only to provide free abortions in America, but also in foreign countries where we are already giving aid, there was still a feeling of hope. Members of Congress were on fire for victory, as each called upon God's help with sincerity and enthusiasm. When we get to heaven, we will meet all those babies who were aborted because they, too, have souls. I hope I will be able to say to them that I did all I could to save them and tell them I'm sorry they didn't have a chance to make the earth a better place. Not only in America, but all over the world, the power of Satan is unleashed through the abortion industry. We are fighting a power which is greater than we are, but God is more powerful than Satan and with our prayers we can overcome. Victory rests with the Lord, but we must do our part. When David was faced with the giant Goliath, people told him, "It's no use, the enemy is too big!" But David with his little slingshot, replied, "He's so big, I can't miss!" We must not be discouraged, but joyfully embrace the challenge of the enemy. In England, it took William Wilberforce 22 years of fighting as a member of Parliament to end the slave trade. Finally, his efforts paid off and slave trade was declared a crime in 1807. It is interesting to know England outlawed slavery a half-century before the US and didn't need a civil war to do it. As a devout Christian, Wilberforce risked his career, was ridiculed, threatened and made fun of for his unpopular stand to free the slaves. Perhaps you may have seen "Amazing Grace", the inspiring movie made a couple of years ago, which shows the power of this one individual to make a difference in the lives of others. Through the movie, Wilberforce has become a hero to many! Excellent movie, now in DVD!! It's interesting to know that one of the best weapons used in fighting for the unborn is the ultrasound. It may be one of the reasons for the drop in the number of abortions performed. When parents see their baby in the womb, they find it hard to doubt that it is a human life. That's why abortion providers never use the ultrasound. Grandmas are great promoters of life, as they carry around pictures of the ultrasounds and brag about their unborn grandchildren! Please don't grow discouraged, because WE WIN, no matter what political party is in power because those who remain faithful to Jesus Christ and his Mother win every time! We may not see victory in our lifetime, but what matters is that we run the race to the finish line. Our prayers are never wasted and they may end up making us saints. Be patient, my beloved ones, and God will judge you for what you have done and reward you for everything. Do not hate, even if everything urges you to do so. Above all, let's remember to love everyone, especially the unloveable. In the end, love conquers all. Isaiah 40:31. "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will run and not be weary, they will walk and not grow faint."
