When Darkness comes.....‏

Dearest Ones,

Did you ever experience darkness in the spiritual life, when you felt like a nightmare fell upon your heart? It happens to everyone. Do you understand something of the horror of that darkness? When some terrible sorrow comes it is so hard to reconcile it with God, who loves us so much. We feel like saying, "There isn't any God. How could He let this happen?" There doesn't seem to be a ray of hope, which often leads us to doubt whether there is a God who sees and still permits bad things to happen. Our human lives are made up dark times and bright, happy times. If any of you may be filled with the "horror of darkness" right now, learn to trust the wisdom of God. Jesus, who, while passing through the horror of the darkness of Calvary, called out to His Father, "Why have you forsaken Me?" This sounded like He had lost his faith but deep down He knew He was following His Father's will. He did it all for us, so we could enter heaven when we die. He is with you, suffering every pain you are enduring. The disciples thought the angry sea would swallow them up, as Jesus slept in the boat. Some even thought Jesus had forgotten all about them or did not really care about them. My dearest friends, those of you who may be experiencing this kind of pain, when the devil whispers, "God has forgotten you; God has forsaken you;" remember the evil that has come upon you is not to separate you from Jesus, but to make you cling to Him more faithfully. There is no time to abandon ourselves more to our good God, than when He seems to have abandoned us. Let us enjoy the pleasures He gives to us, but let's not attach ourselves to them, so that when he plunges us into the agonizing darkness, we will move on in pure faith. Our faith either grows stronger through each trial or grows weaker. When overcome with sadness, cling to the Will of God as your support. When you are weary of the struggle, you feel utterly alone, and you can't even pray, offer your weary heart to our Loving God, and that will be your prayer. There is nothing more beautiful than the Will of God. Embrace what happens to you as His Holy will and you will find peace. God longs to hear you say, "God, I know You love me. God, I trust You. All things work out for the good of those who love God." God doesn't cause bad things to happen but He can help to bring good from them. God wants your faith to grow stronger. It helps me to leave my trials in God's hands and let Him bring good from them. "Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for you." (1 Peter 5-7) Trust Him!
